What's the rivalry about - the answer's in the question :)
Seriously, the rivalry isn't really about anything. In fact I'm now wondering if I was right in calling it a rivalry.
Basically, we're both quite (very) bright and did well at education. I'm the eldest, so I always got there first. Consequently, there was always the feeling that (1) my sister had to do different stuff from me, and (2) she had to do it better, otherwise by definition she'd be a poor second.
Examples of the result include (I believe) her going to Cambridge rather than Oxford - partly because she'd prefer we weren't bumping into each other all the time, but partly because she wouldn't want me to have done it first.
Similarly there was a certain amount of worry over what would happen if she didn't get a first.
Anyway that's my side of the paranoia :)
I think we get on quite well now, as long as we're both careful to be diplomatic. Underneath it all there's a powder-keg waiting to go off that stems from rows we had when we were younger.
Does that give you an idea of what our relationship is like?
