Chinese is going into my head much more slowly than any other language I've met on this trip.
That makes sense. The various Chineses use tonal variation for meaning. ISTR it being claimed that the same syllable, inflected differently, can mean "horse" or "mother-in-law", but that may well be apocryphal.
