internet yard sale

Thank you all for your kind comments on the last post. We're dashing off to look at flats in London now. Oof. I have been furiously throwing stuff out in an attempt to convince myself that there is order to the universe. And speaking of which: these are two hasty Flickr sets of stuff I'm selling or giving away - I'll add the details, prices and so on tonight.

Clothes. Mostly Monsoon-type things, nearly all size 14, and a lovely but weird coat which is the only designer thing I own but would be better on a taller person (I'm five feet). Some free, most a fiver, a couple (the jackets) eight quid. The white fluffy scarf has a story behind it which is funny and ethically thorny at the same time.

Books and music (some of them). Books range from free to three quid for the big hardbacks. CDs mostly free or a pound a pop.

If you think you might want any of this stuff, you're welcome to come and get it (this Sunday afternoon is the 'official' time, but other times good too) or just let me know and I'll work out the postage.

Right, off to the bus. It's a beautiful pearly morning. Time for the Lemmings voice: let's go!

I'd be interested in the Sufjan Stevens, Ballboy, Nine Inch Nails (all except Downward Spiral), Belle & Sebastian, Banco de Gaia, Y3K, Kristin Hersch, Rough Trade 2003 and SFA Fuzzy Logic, if that's ok? Opening bid £25, with the understanding that if months go by and there's anything in there you regret parting with you can claim it back. Sound ok? I can't do Sunday afternoon but I'm sure another time can be found...

[identity profile] dr-f-dellamorte.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oof, too late for Ballboy but Baader Meinhof and Nick drake?

[identity profile] sea-of-flame.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
Take a look at monsoon's website - they recycle old monsoon clothes & will (from memory) give you a £10 creit note to be used in store for them. You may want to divide into several lots in case the shop assistants read it as £10/lot though - and you may need to print out the webpage because they don't publicise it in store.

I'm interested in the Toby Litt book. Also I owe you a tenner from Wednesday!

[identity profile] sea-of-flame.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
Here's the link, it's hidden in their CSR stuff - http://www.monsoon.co.uk/page/clothesforlife

looks like the only limitation is that the credits can only be /spent/ individually on new items, nothing in the t&c's about how many you can collect!

[identity profile] grahamb.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 09:09 am (UTC)(link)

I'd be quite interested in that copy of Whipping Boy's - Heartworm you have :)

[identity profile] lanfykins.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
Can I have the Patrick Wolf and the Covenant?

[identity profile] oxfordhacker.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
I really like that green jacket. I'm not convinced that it will fit (curse my manly shoulders) but clearly I will have to pop round on Sunday to check...

[identity profile] atommickbrane.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 10:06 am (UTC)(link)
Cor! I didn't know they did that! But it's £10 off any item worth £50 or more so it's not entirely "yay! free clothes swap!" (then again if it was they'd be m3nks).

D - missed yr earlier post, but excellent London news! If you go for New Cross, that's where I live! I think it's a dump, but then again I don't go to Goldsmiths and hang out at the butchers buying sausage rolls :)

[identity profile] marnameow.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 10:06 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, can I get that pretty lacy blue skirt, please?

[identity profile] atommickbrane.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
Actually it's not that bad rly, I am just fed up of it. There are two (2) good pubs! And another one if you pop down Deptford way. Deptford is much cooler :)

[identity profile] huskyteer.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
I would very much like Timoleon Vieta Come Home if you don't mind posting. (Or if you fancy a handover in London. I second the vote for living south of the river, BTW.)

I really like the green dress and the red one, if they fit.

[personal profile] triskellian 2010-09-03 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh! And Special topics in calamity physics, and Case histories (I lent mine to someone - not you - and can't remember who).

[identity profile] sea-of-flame.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Still allows for slightly cheaper New and Shinies, which is handy :)

I would like to try the grey velvet jacket (my much loved one is getting somewhat threadbare). I'm also interested in Her Fearful Symmetry, and in Of Mice and Men.

[identity profile] libellum.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd love this skirt (http://www.flickr.com/photos/37942320@N00/4953082981/in/set-72157624868465422/). What are you asking? Happy to pay p&p, or wait till I see you next? I rather like the blue lacy one as well, but looks like that's been claimed. Sadly I don't think any of the top half garments would fit me!

Best of luck with the rest. Have been thinking of you. x

[identity profile] darklily.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 09:50 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, what do you want for the VNV Nation?

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 12:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooo, that's very cool. Cheers!

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 12:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it ain't Leafy North London, but whatevs, I'd sacrifice a lot of picturesqueness to be able to get to college (and the houses of people I know, yay!) on my bike. Which do you think are the good pubs? We need a local!

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 12:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Great, but I was assuming you'd already have it!

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
The thing about that jacket is that despite it saying 'size 14' on it (though actually being more like a 16) it is basically a bloke's jacket. It looks square and is roomy in the shoulders. I only wore it once for that reason (though caveat emptor, that one wearing did involve being rained on at Stonehenge. You might catch hippy cooties).

So yes, come round! :)

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yours! Though one of the things I didn't manage to say as I dashed for the bus is that it's missing two buttons on the side (not really structure-critical ones but still) and is thus free, if you're still interested.

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, I think that'd work on you. It's smaller than the rest, maybe size 12. I was thinking £6 for that, with £2 p&p?

Thinking of you too! Hope to come down and stay once the spin cycle is finished. x

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Both of them (Standing and Advance And Follow)? Say £2 and a pound postage?

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 12:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Great stuff - you're welcome to come round and try them! They're £5 each, and the books are £2 each.

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Both the Covenant ones? That'll be £2.50 for the three (United States of Mind is cheap because the case is broken), plus £1.50 p&p - unless you'd like to meet up and collect?

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
True! That'll be a princely £2.

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, yes, very much so. £25 seems very reasonable, but I'll be putting more up later today if you want to add a few more on!

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
You're very welcome to them! But er, the jacket is in fact pitch-black because my camera sucks. And it's free because it's missing one button. If you're coming over you can see what you think...

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
By all means. :)

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Not at all. £1.50 postage I guess? And where do you live these days? I haven't lived south of the river before and I'm intrigued.

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Which reads as if the book is worth -8 pounds, but you know what I mean :)

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
(Hmm, actually, the Standing EP wasn't in the picture, but yes I have that too)

[identity profile] grahamb.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)

I had a copy on cassette tape many years ago which I wore out completely. I've for the followup album on cd but just not heartworm.

[identity profile] concourse.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Lovely! Or shall I just come over and browse sometime soon? Tuesday evening maybe?

[identity profile] darklily.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds eminently reasonable. Where/how should I send the money?

[identity profile] huskyteer.livejournal.com 2010-09-04 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I live in Bromley, which isn't even Proper London. It's a bit too far out for comfort on workdays, really, but I like having easy access to the countryside at weekends. I'll drop you a line re postage!

[identity profile] lanfykins.livejournal.com 2010-09-05 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
I have problems with free time; I'll take the postage :) How would you like to be paid?

[identity profile] rainsinger.livejournal.com 2010-09-05 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like the longish dress with the blue trim and the black/white flower print, if it's still unsold.

[identity profile] concourse.livejournal.com 2010-09-06 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
to you - I'm holding off on Dan's, thought it would be worth waiting for Dan to see if there were any from the second batch he wanted to keep. Drop me a line once the deliberations are complete. Cheers!

[identity profile] libellum.livejournal.com 2010-09-06 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
Is it elasticated? I'm a 12-14 on the hips so it should be fine!

£8 sounds grand. Email me your bank details? x

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-06 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it is! And will do.

Get well soon! xx

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-06 11:20 am (UTC)(link)
It is indeed. I love it to bits but it's too long for me - it would be just right for you, I think.

What's a good email address for you?

x

Re: Cash transferred

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-06 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you - that was quick! Dan's got to go home-home for a few days, but he should be able to sort the other CDs out at the weekend or thereabouts. We'll give you a shout. Was nice to see you!

[identity profile] marnameow.livejournal.com 2010-09-07 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
If it's missing buttons it'll feel *right at home* in my wardrobe. Beers in exchange, at least, though?

[identity profile] rainsinger.livejournal.com 2010-09-09 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
nina.san@gmail.com

Also, because apparently giving birth means that I keep scattering my brains like confetti, if you and Dan want to stay with us for a month in London Z like me would be delighted to have you.
x

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2010-09-09 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Beers! Yes! Sorry I missed your birthday (happy retroactive birthday? Can I do that?). All sorts of important stuff has gone flying by while we've been in crisis mode :/

More cash transferral

[identity profile] concourse.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I've arranged for the money for Dan to go through next Wednesday (the day after payday) - let me know if it doesn't by the end of next week or so. Many thanks for all that! And the very best of luck in the ongoing housemoving endurance test.. x
