Cool. That does actually sound a bit like what I'm writing, though only certain bits of it take place in a parallel London, and no one really acknowledges that anything's different there...

True. But some of the characters seem to slip back and forth in unexplained ways between the worlds. It's a bit like how Ratty and Mole change size constantly in Wind in the Willows.
