Experiment update 4

Feeling slightly less bitter now that [livejournal.com profile] kesstrel has fed me Double Chocolate Stout.

Letters dropped (with a snarl) today:
[livejournal.com profile] carbonunit: on a wall near the Gloucester Road Holiday Inn. It was gone when I came back that way at the end of the day, and not visibly in a gutter or anything, so I have hopes for that one.
[livejournal.com profile] mzdt: on a leafy corner in swanky South Ken.
[livejournal.com profile] inskauldrak: in front of Gloucester Road tube station.

All of these are actually within sight of postboxes. Come on, world! Repay my leap of faith, damnit!

I can hardly wait! Reckon I'll try the same experiment in return, if the letter gets through and it has your address on it.

Soon the streets of Britain will be awash with folorn, damp letters seeking their addresses.

I note with dismay that there have been no reports of letters arriving yet.

This is Royal Mail we’re dealing with…

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2004-10-19 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't, but I can tell you :)

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2004-10-19 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
I was thinking that. They're second-class stamped, but apparently that shouldn't make much difference?

Am I too late to request a letter?

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2004-10-19 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
No, go ahead!

Letter has arrived.

Thank you very much for your letter. It arrived sometime today and was waiting for me when I got home! I am glad that the site which simulates colour-blindness was useful to you.

Fantastic. And apologies for the incoherent burble about the Gaudi shop (I should put up a picture of it, it has to be seen) but I'd written twenty letters by then :)

Hello. I am smorgabord's other half, and I spent the day admiring the stamp on his letter, and restraining myself from opening it because it was so pretty. I friended you, so I thought that it would be polite to come along and introduce myself. I love A.S. Byatt and the Burren as well. And I'm very bad at typing, so I always seem to spell things wrong in a way that I never would if I were writing by hand.

Hello - I've friended you back. Nice to see another appreciator of west Irish moonscapes!

letter arrived yesterday (20th) - and very lovely it was too... ;-)

[identity profile] bluedevi.livejournal.com 2004-10-21 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Rah! Now we're up to four out of a total of 22 dropped. Still not great, but I wonder if any of them will arrive delayed after languishing in someone's briefcase or handbag?

[identity profile] mzdt.livejournal.com 2004-10-21 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
there'll be an interesting curve against time - I assume that most that do arrive will be posted on the day,a lthough there'll be a few people, like me, who take a bit of time to get things done, in the post etc...

It could well be worth writing up for Smoke, particularly since you've done the drops in a few different areas. I fear I may have already accidentally illustrated the article for you. Talk to Matt about it on Friday (but don't expect expenses)?
