The blue bee of happiness

Yes, that's a bee who's been at the blue hair dye. But I got wind that some of you thought it was a bluebottle fly. I think it's far too stripy to look like a fly, but maybe I only thought it looked like a bee because I knew what the original photo looked like. Hence my question.

But it seems that those of you who think it's a fly are outnumbered by about 35 to 3. Yay! We bees can't be doing with that nasty fly riff-raff, with their horrid dirty feet and dubious eating habits.

In other, puzzling news, at least two of you thought it was some kind of god!
