Oy vey. It's just taken me four and a half hours to get completely up to speed and do something about the flamewars in [livejournal.com profile] theladiesloos. I've just finished a new set of posting guidelines. Would it be bitchy to add a rule saying "NO SODDING EMAIL FORWARDS, GODDAMNIT!!"?

I still have lots of Paint pictures to do for people - you're all stark raving geniuses, and thank you - but if I look at this computer screen for one second more, my eyeballs are going to burst. I'm going to do something else for a while now.

Email forwards bring me out in a rash. I had an aunt who asked me on her deathbed to stay in touch with my cousins, and yet I've never given them my email address because I know my mailbox will instantly be full of mails headed "JOKE!!!!!!" and "READ THIS FOR GOOD LUCK!!!!!" Does this make me a bad person?

And the community's so busy (regardless of mentalists or whatever) that I wouldn't blame anyone for not having it on their friends list.

SWITCH OFF YOUR COMPUTER NOW!

It's not the business tho, it really is the menk thing. I think I'm not cut out for places where I don't LIKE people on tinterweb :) The people I do like are already on my friends list, innit! Ah well. I am lucky rarely to get forwards, I know.

Naw, the only thing I don't like about [livejournal.com profile] theladiesloos is that the jokes are no good.

I thought this would be my mum when she started using email. However, she works in an office of fairly savvy people so I didn't get any. Until...my sister got work email and so I get them twice daily, once from Vix and once forwarded on from Mum as she doesn't understand CC and BCC

I detest email forwards. I've probably lost more friends (and a few relatives) from telling people not to send me the damn things, than from anything else...

It's often as simple as "I've read the internet already, please stop forwarding me these old jokes". Invariably followed by them with "but I saw this one the other day about $blah and.." where you cut in, summarise very briefly, and skip to the punchline. A few iterations of that normally gets the point across. A few iterations of them finding people like this, and they realise there's not a whole lot to be gained by forwarding them, especially if they've got 20 levels of indents already.
