I'm not that keen to give the specific place I'm from the oxygen of publicity, but it's about 20 miles away from where this photo (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v211/hollowfulofhat/bigcorn.jpg) was taken. If you've seen the movie Fargo, that'll give you some idea.
Nowadays my parents live a mere 80 miles or so from the location of the latest school shooting rampage (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4370617.stm). The area has beautiful Nordic-style scenery, but the main career options for young people are either working in the McCain's potato-processing plant, cleaning guest cabins at one of the rustic lakeside resorts, or operating a meth lab in one's living room.
I spent a couple of years in Providence, Rhode Island ("Land of Lobsters and Mobsters") for educational reasons and then a few more in Boston. If my lovely red passport ever happened to be revoked, I s'pose Boston would be the place I'd go back to.
