I like the idea of London as a demanding lover... well, it's not my bit-on-the-side, it's my 'primary', but because it's hard to get short house leases or rustle up any money for holidays, it seems like a very possessive one. When I came back from America I felt like it was saying "You've been consorting with other cities, haven't you? I can smell them. And that tall, shiny, flash one - you're wearing his shirt!* What a cheek."
