What an extraordinary photograph.

Though I do find myself thinking of a tall, bearded sorcerer waving his hands, while Mickey Mouse waits just off shot...

You've also reminded me that I must listen to some more Divine Comedy. Once I've finished listening to Vol 3 of 69 Love ongs, anyway...

It's a Monarch (also know as Milkweed due to that being the plant of choice for the caterpillars) butterfly. It occasionally appears in this country (and I think it's the biggest butterfly native to the UK).

(yes, I used to breed butterflies - although never actually Monarchs)

Respect to the club for having such realistic specimens.

And you used to breed butterflies? Cool.

That's very impressive. Was it a butterfly club?

Alternatively, was it a social butterfly?

*applause*

It certainly seemed to be sociable.

Awww, I am listening to the Divine Comedy now. That album was my awakening to all sorts of things.

Trippy.

What club?

A record company night, a once-off - but it *was* incredibly trippily decorated.
