The Little Mathsgirl got her SAT results. She got an 8 in maths, which I think is basically an A! Squee! She got nearly double the marks she got in her mocks before I started teaching her! More squee! Not that I'm taking the credit - well, it would be false to say I'm not taking any of the credit because it is giving me a warm glow and a sense of "I must be doing something right". Still, I didn't do much more than read the book out to her; her brain just slurps up facts as fast as you can dish them out. But... well, I've never seen her actually grinning as much as she did yesterday and that makes me happy.

And I had the best damn weekend in recent memory, which among much else featured a ROBOT HORSE!

A robot horse that played an eerie tune!

And the air smells so good after the rain.

Yay! There really isn't a grade equivalent to the silly National Curriculum Levels (oh, I wish there were), but Level 8 is the absolute highest possible. Kids can't even earn an 8 on the English SATs any more, although English teachers can still assess them at Level 8. But for Maths and Science, Level 8 is the highest for both SATs and teacher assessment. Good job to you both! :)

Thanks for the info. I'm a bit ignorant about how it's all administered at that level. (I usually do GCSE maths and the LMG is doing GCSE-level stuff anyway.)

And for the yays :)
