Further to pondering session on bus home, I thought I'd ask you all: what is the best text message you've ever received?

It could be the best because it was clever, or funny, or brought momentous news, or was just touching, but whatever the reason, it has probably survived several inbox-clearings because you can't bear to delete it.

The weedy capacity of the inbox of my phone requires constant vigilance and a never ceasing delete-o-thumb, so I don't have any saved.

But the inbox of my brain has a giant capacity, and I often leaf through some of the long and somewhat private conversations I've had with the_heiress, who never fails to be as charming and articulate in SMS as she does in her journal.

d_sameboy has recently adopted the very silly texting persona of a middle-class gangsta when texting, eg: "Where is my homies at? Mutha of pearl!"

It's funnier when you've been drinking.
