Months and months ago now, I sent some writing to Smoke: A London Peculiar, which is a very cool little magazine about forgotten and non-obvious bits of London. I got a mail back from one of the editors, saying he liked my stuff, but he'd have to talk to the other editor to see if it could go in.

Having worked on a magazine, I knew I shouldn't get all excited yet. I started muttering to myself 'Don't get excited, don't get excited'. I waited. Time went by. Some more time went by. Autumn turned into winter. I continued to tell myself not to get excited.

The trouble with this is that I just had a very nice mail from the editor saying that the other editor likes it too, and they want to put it in the next issue. And I've successfully trained myself not to get excited. Whoops.

They seem friendly people, and put a lot of energy into putting the thing together and distributing it on their bikes (!) - I think they'd be pleased and flattered if you were to get in touch, and probably only too happy to help :)
