Sign in the changing room at the Muswell Hill gym: "Nurofen Capulets available at reception."

So what do you do if your allegiance lies with the Montagues? Are you doomed to endless pain?

In other news, I've got myself a book on Japanese. I now know how to say "Good evening, honourable Totoro. Nice to meet you." Which should come in very handy if the catbus should call by our house one of these rainy nights.

Actually, I could really use a catbus round about now.

I'm doing a clear out and have a teach yourself Japanese tape/book. Want it?

Oh, yes please, if you're finished with it. The book I've got is good, but limited (it doesn't tell you what the colours are, for example). And I could really use a tape. I have nothing to base my pronunciation on except the speech patterns of anime characters. :)

Mwahahahhhahahahahaa.
Wonderful. :)

What is Japenese for Good Evening, Honourable Totoro?

I think it's "Konbanwa, Totoro-san."

"Nice to meet you" is "hajimemashita", which I've been going around saying entirely out of context for days. :)

You and Matt make such a great linguistic couple :D
Now perhaps the next step is to find some way fo combining it with racoons

I have to share this with my Year 8 students tomorrow. They just finished performing a Romeo and Juliet scene in the school's Shakespeare Festival!

Ahhh thought you might've made it down there, given your swimming cossie drying on the radiator.

I'll be there at 6:30 tonight, if you want to exercise together. Unfortunately I've lost my swimming costume so no sauna tonight, but will look for it and go for a swim/sauna tomorrow night if you want.

Well, I was very good and went at ten o'clock today (check out my halo), so I won't be there this evening, but some other evening definitely. I think I may be Scrabbling with Casee tomorrow night. Wednesday?

Cool stuff; I've been learning Japanese for a couple of years now, so good to see another [ex?] mono-spod having a go! Now that you can greet Honourable Tototo-san, would you like to be to ask him where the post-office is? An essential skill in any language, I'm sure you'll agree... ;)

Absolutely. Or where the railway station is - one of the first things I learnt in German. Wie kommen Sie am besten zum Bahnhof, bitte? I think...

Oh yes, always thought it odd that in every language I've encountered, they want to get you to ask where the post-office is, as though you must, above all other things in a foreign country, is buy some stamps...

Anyway. Where's the station. Simplest way:

Eki wa doko desu ka? [where's the station?]

Koko no chikaku ni eki ga arimasu ka?

[Is there a station near here?]

Biiru o hitotsu onegaishimasu :)
[One beer, please!]

After reading [livejournal.com profile] verlaine's last post I am a bit concerned about the availability of your spare room. Thought it was sorted that I was going to move in next month - it is not far away and I have given notice.

Need to know the situation as soon as possible.

Sorry to be pushy.

Don't worry - looks like the room'll be available whatever happens. I've got no plans to go anywhere in the near future and neither, it would seem, has Matt, even if work is patchy.

He was just being his usual dramatic self, I reckon ;)

Good. That is a relief.
