Ye gods. Someone just gave me a paid account.

This is obviously lovely, but I'm feeling quite ashamed. Last night in The Woodman I was ranting good-humouredly about [livejournal.com profile] verlaine's paid-account birthday-presents and the fact that although I regularly point out I can't do polls, no one has yet bought me one. But the only witnesses to this were the man himself and [livejournal.com profile] miss_newham, and I know for a fact you're both as poor as churchmice. When I said 'no one ever buys me presents', it wasn't directed at you. Honest.

But maybe it was just a random act of goodwill from someone else. Either way, as girls in comics say to masked superheroes, thank you, whoever you are!

And by the way, [livejournal.com profile] catskulls, who are you? I'd ask in your comments but you've disabled them. You know several people I know. Maybe I've even met you. Enlighten me?

Hey, I am no church mouse (though dreadful at looking after my money) - you're destroying my blinging reputation! Or something.

No offence meant - I just reckoned that since your work was a bit patchy this summer you wouldn't exactly be rolling in it. But it's true, one of your public stature must be able to project an appropriately blinging image :)

Into love, and out again,
Thus I went, and thus I go.
Spare your voice, and hold your pen
Well and bitterly I know
All the songs were ever sung,
All the words were ever said;
Could it be, when I was young,
Some one dropped me on my head?

All hail the great Mrs Parker! But I still don't know who you are.

In former times I would have been happy to let you remain anonymous and intriguing, but I have to ask. I have a morbid fear that you are a student at my school, though I know it's not very likely.

(I'm not saying you come across as a teenager or anything, I just know this particular student who is quite literary and likes to paint skulls...)
